**Notice**
Per City Ordinance and Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Regulations, it is illegal to run your sump pump into the City’s sanitary sewer system. The discharge from sump pumps, footing tiles, roof drains or any other source of natural precipitation has the potential to damage residential property and overoad the Wastewater Treatment Plant. These backups can create a potential health hazard due to sewage entering the living quarters of homes and exceeding the capacity of the Plant. This not only creates health issues but also costs everyone due to excess pumping at the Plant. All sump pumps must be removed from the sanitary sewer system or fines will be imposed. City workers will be conducting random inspections to make sure that the pumps are not flowing into the sanitary sewer system. Those found in non-compliance can be fined up to $50.00/day until the problem is corrected.
